In grades 3-5, the main goal is for students to build on the foundations that have been set in K-2. Teachers work to support students as they become more independent, growing in responsibility and taking an active role in their own learning. It is often said that 3rd grade marks a transition for students as they move from โlearning to readโ into โreading to learn.โ Reading comprehension becomes a crucial skill at this point in a childโs education. Mastery of math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) also sets a student up for success in math as they delve into deeper mathematical concepts and work on more complicated problem solving. Students continue to grow spiritually as well, examining themes from the Bible and applying Godโs Word to their own lives and experiences.
